The Markwasen open-air pool , also known as the Markwasen wave pool , is an open-air pool in the city of Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg .

The swimming pool was built in 1954/55 according to a revised design by Richard Konwiarz and finally opened by Mayor Oskar Kalbfell on June 17, 1955. It replaced the historic Arbachbad, opened in 1854 at the confluence of the Arbach and Echaz rivers . When it was completed, the pool was considered the most modern outdoor pool in the Federal Republic of Germany and had around 150,000 visitors on around 10 hectares in its first season. It was one of the few pools equipped for competitions and had a grandstand that could hold 2000 spectators.

Important competitions were the German swimming championships in 1961 and the German championships in art and high diving in 1969. In the 1980s, a wave pool was built in a separate pool , which generates waves up to 1.5 m high.

The objects, buildings and horticultural facilities from the time of construction are under monument protection . There is a restaurant, a separate nudist area and a baby changing room.
