Matthias Tischer (born November 9, 1985 in Magdeburg ) is a former German soccer player . As a goalkeeper, he played over 170 games for 1. FC Magdeburg .

Career

Tischer played in the youth of Magdeburg SV 90 Prussia until 1996 and then moved to the youth of FCM. In 2005 he made the leap into the first team, where he was initially only the third man behind Christian Person and Christian Beer. He later became a regular goalkeeper anyway and over the years he developed into a crowd favorite. It was only Jan Glinker who took over the role of the first man in goal from the 2014/15 season after five seasons.

His greatest success was his promotion to the 3rd division with 1. FC Magdeburg in the 2014/15 season. Due to an injury Glinkers he was in goal in both promotion games against Kickers Offenbach . On March 2, 2016, he played his first game in the third division in the league game at VfR Aalen.

At the end of the season, Tischer ended his active career after 20 years with 1. FC Magdeburg. At the same time, he announced that he would continue to be available to the club in the scouting area and as goalkeeping coach.

Due to injury and illness-related failures of the substitute goalkeepers Jan Glinker and Lukas Cichos, Tischer made his comeback on the bench in the second half of the 2016/2017 season in the game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden .
