Career

Jan Glinker began his football career in 1992 in the youth team of FC Berlin and moved to Hertha BSC in 1999 . In 2001 he came to the A-youth of 1. FC Union Berlin . From July 2002 Glinker was part of the squad of the then second division club . There he was the third goalkeeper behind Sven Beuckert and Robert Wulnikowski . Two years later he made his debut for the first team in the 2003/04 season when Wulnikowski was injured in the game at Alemannia Aachen . This was followed by three more appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga by the end of the season, where he played through the last two games.

After the relegation of 1. FC Union to the regional league in 2004 and the associated departure of Wulnikowski, Marco Sejna was initially preferred. In the course of the season Glinker finally prevailed as a regular goalkeeper. At the end of the season there was another relegation, this time to the NOFV-Oberliga Nord . In the 2005/06 season , however, the club managed to return to the regional league, Glinker made 25 league appearances.

In the following season Glinker held the class with the team and won the Berlin State Cup . 1. FC Union had the second best defense in the league with 39 goals conceded in 36 games. In the 2007/08 season he qualified with Union for the new third professional league and returned to the second Bundesliga as champions in 2009 . At the beginning of the 2010/11 season, Glinker had competition from Marcel Höttecke . During the season he lost his regular place to Höttecke, but later benefited from his injury. Glinker played a total of 19 league games this season. For the 2011/12 season, Höttecke was originally chosen by coach Uwe Neuhaus as the goalkeeper, but he was injured again at the beginning of the season. Glinker was back in the Unioner's starting line-up until the end of the season.

With the commitment of Daniel Haas as a direct competitor, Glinker was pushed back to the bench at the beginning of the 2012/13 season ; on matchday 27 he came to his only season use. Nevertheless, the goalkeeper was popular with Union fans and was voted “Unioner of the Year” four times (2007 to 2009, 2012). In February 2014, 1. FC Union Berlin decided not to renew the contract of its longest-serving player. He said goodbye to the Köpenickers on May 11, 2014, the last matchday of the 2013/14 season , with a 1-1 draw against TSV 1860 Munich .

After 13 years in the service of Union Berlin, he moved to 1. FC Magdeburg . On May 31, 2015 he rose with the team after the relegation games against Kickers Offenbach in the 3rd division. In the 2017/18 season he was promoted to the second Bundesliga with 1. FC Magdeburg. At the end of this season Glinker moved to Wacker Nordhausen . After this club went bankrupt in December 2019, Glinker started at FC Energie Cottbus .
