It was there that LR Ahlen scouts discovered Höttecke's talent and he switched to the Westphalian youth team. During the winter break he moved to Borussia Dortmund , where he was only the third goalkeeper behind Roman Weidenfeller and Marc Ziegler . As a regular goalkeeper of the second team, he played 17 times to zero in 30 games in the 2007/08 season in the Regionalliga Nord .

He made his professional debut in the Bundesliga on April 16, 2008 in a 3-1 home defeat against Hannover 96 . Also in the 0-0 draw against 1. FC Nürnberg on May 2, 2008, he was in goal and played for the first time in the Bundesliga to zero. In the last season game of the Regionalliga 2007/08 season, Höttecke suffered an unhappy triad and therefore missed the entire 2008/09 season. With the signing of Daniel Haas as a regular goalkeeper at the beginning of the 2012/13 season , Höttecke finally lost his place in the squad. Nevertheless, he stayed with the Köpenickers until his contract ended. After leaving Union, he moved to the regional league team Berliner AK 07 .
