It was there that LR Ahlen scouts discovered Höttecke's talent and he switched to the Westphalian youth team. During the winter break he moved to Borussia Dortmund , where he was only the third goalkeeper behind Roman Weidenfeller and Marc Ziegler . As a regular goalkeeper of the second team, he played 17 times to zero in 30 games in the 2007/08 season in the Regionalliga Nord .

With the signing of Daniel Haas as a regular goalkeeper at the beginning of the 2012/13 season , Höttecke finally lost his place in the squad. Nevertheless, he stayed with the Köpenickers until his contract ended. After leaving Union, he moved to the regional league team Berliner AK 07 .
