Axel Borgmann (born July 8, 1994 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German soccer player . He is used as a full-back , as a central defender , in the defensive midfield or as an outside midfield player . He is under contract with FC Energie Cottbus . His nickname is Borges .
Club career
Beginnings
Born in Mülheim, Borgmann started playing soccer at TuSpo Saarn in 1995 . In the 2005/06 season he moved to the youth department of MSV Duisburg. In the summer of 2008 he moved to the youth department of FC Schalke 04 .
FC Schalke 04
At Schalke 04 he went through the U-17 and U-19. In 2012 he won the German A youth championship with the U-19s. From July 2013 he was part of the regional league team. There he was used in various positions on the defensive. During the 2013 winter break, Borgmann completed a trial training session at 1. FC Saarbrücken , but there was no transfer. He played a total of 56 competitive games for Schalke in which he scored two goals.
FC Vaduz
After being out of a club for two months, Borgmann signed a contract with FC Vaduz that was valid until June 30, 2018 in September 2015 . He made his first appearance in the Super League on October 3, 2015 when he came on as a substitute for the game against FC Thun . Borgmann played the following three league games over the full playing time on the position in the left midfield. Borgmann was also one of the pillars of the team in the following two seasons. For FC Vaduz he played a total of 96 competitive games in which he scored four goals and nine assists.
VVV Venlo
He then signed a one-year contract with the Eredivisie -verein VVV-Venlo with an option for a further year.
