The Freiburger Rundbrief is a magazine founded in 1948 and based in Freiburg im Breisgau .

The Freiburg circular was founded by Gertrud Luckner and a small group of committed Catholics in Freiburg im Breisgau. The circle included u. a. Karl Siegfried Bader , Bernhard Welte , Rupert Gießler and the Freiburg Cathedral Chapter Alois Eckert . Originally, the circle had drafted a pastoral word from the German bishops against the newly burgeoning anti-Semitism, but rejected this idea again. Instead, it was agreed to publish a correspondence, initially at irregular intervals and later annually, to promote friendship between the old and new people of God - in the spirit of the two testaments , the Freiburg circular. The first edition appeared on the 1948 Catholic Day in Mainz.

In theological issues, Karl Thieme in particular shaped the Freiburg circular. After his death in 1963, u. a. the Dominican Willehad Paul Eckert the magazine that Luckner edited as editor until 1986.

In 1986 the publication was initially discontinued. From 1993 to 2016 the magazine was published quarterly as a Freiburg newsletter with the subtitle: New episode. Journal for Christian-Jewish encounter . In 2017, the Freiburger Rundbrief association changed the title of the magazine to magazine for Christian-Jewish encounters in context (ZfBeg) and is now publishing the successor magazine under ISSN 2513-1389. The magazine is one of the most cited magazines in the theology.

The main topics are how the Christian churches deal with Judaism, combined with a critical examination of anti-Semitism.
