School types

primary school

The primary school teaches in family and cross-year classes. The class divider is usually 24. With materials from Montessori pedagogy , the school attaches importance to teaching that is oriented towards the needs of the pupil ( individualized learning ). The timetable provides for project lessons and is similar to that of a Marchtaler plan school . As a rule, in addition to the teacher in the guided free work phase, there are also assistants and / or special needs education staff in a class.

Secondary school or general high school (G9)

After elementary school, the Free Christian School offers two pillars as a secondary school type: the secondary school (combined school consisting of Real- and Werkrealschule, state-recognized) for students who have received a grammar school, Real- or Werkrealschule recommendation from the elementary school ( elementary school recommendation ) and a General education grammar school as a nine-year grammar school (G9 - requirement is the existence of a grammar school recommendation, the grammar school is state approved). The general university entrance qualification can be obtained via both pillars, whereby the path via the secondary school to obtain the general university entrance qualification requires the subsequent attendance of a vocational high school .

Secondary school entry level (SekE)

Years 5 and 6 are organized in the SekE as an additional orientation time. Pupils with different primary school recommendations are taught together ( internal differentiation ). An additional profile takes place from the 7th grade, the transition from the SekE to the general high school (G9), which is also located at the school, is possible with the appropriate performance and available free places. The SekE places particular emphasis on strengthening the main subject and self-learning skills.

General education grammar school (G9)

In addition to the secondary school, the 9-year high school runs as a separate branch from grade 5 onwards. A change within the school types is possible with the appropriate performance and available school places. The grammar school follows the approach of holistic education. From year 7 the focus is on the natural sciences and technology, from year 5 theater is taught as a separate subject and the theater profile is taught across disciplines. The educational concept of the grammar school is based on a democratic-participatory approach that strengthens both self-determination and self-responsibility of the students. One of the most famous instruments is the class council . 80 percent of the regular lessons are classic high school lessons, 20 percent are taught in the studio. In studio lessons, students can choose their own courses and decide whether - depending on the subject - they need more repetition and additional practice or B. prefer to choose an offer that is challenging and goes beyond the standard lessons.

Secondary school from grade 7 (Sek7 +)

According to the SekE (secondary school entrance level), the school differentiates parallel to the grammar school pillar in inclination focal points, all of which lead to the intermediate educational qualification, whereby the end of the school is possible after the 9th grade with the secondary school qualification. The 2016 education plan in Baden-Württemberg will enable internal differentiation and individualized teaching to be expanded.

Secondary school profiles from grade 7

From grade 7 onwards, the pupil selects a focus from various profiles (e.g. sport, science / technology, language / bilingual) and supplements his / her schedule with selected inclination offers (e.g. climbing, survival, snowboarding, theater, photography or instrumental lessons etc.). In the minor subjects, learning levels G and M are taught in an internally differentiated manner (G = basic and M = intermediate learning level). The main subjects are taught proportionately in courses (external differentiation) and proportionately internally differentiated. This enables pupils in the same class to work talent-oriented at different learning levels. Up to and including grade 8, the pupil can change the learning level every six months. At the end of class 8, after deliberations, it is jointly determined which school leaving certificate the student is aiming for. The basic learning level leads to the secondary school leaving certificate after grade 9, in grade 10 the intermediate educational qualification is achieved via the intermediate learning level.

Vocational high school GMT

For students with an intermediate level of education, there is the possibility of attending a vocational high school to acquire the general university entrance qualification . The Free Christian School offers a state-approved technical high school with the profile subject of design and media technology. Using the MacBook, schoolchildren learn how to design products ( product design ), how to create uniform presentations of companies ( corporate design ) and how to operate computers (computer technology). The degree enables students to study and prepares them for training with a focus on design, new media and design.
