Free artists in Wiesbaden

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Free Art Association Wiesbaden (short: FKW ) was founded in 1925 by Otto Ritschl .

history

The freelance artists in Wiesbaden included artistic personalities from the state capital. A machine-written list of members from October 10, 1929, which only recently appeared in the Wiesbaden city archive, is very informative for the reconstruction of Wiesbaden art history at the beginning of the 20th century. It informs about artist friendships and their relationships, about which little was known until now.

The FKW was a very tolerant artists' association, because it brought together artists in the former Wilhelmine stronghold of Wiesbaden who practiced a wide variety of styles , realism , expressionism , new objectivity , surrealism and abstract painting .

Interestingly enough, this list explicitly indicates that this association represents the interests of architecture , sculpture , the arts and crafts and painting . In addition, she gives the addresses of the artists who will be useful for future, further research on Wiesbaden's city history.
