The State Association of Free Voter Groups Rhineland-Palatinate e. V. (short form: FWG Rheinland-Pfalz ) is an interest group of voter groups in Rhineland-Palatinate and a member of the Federal Association of Free Voters .
The regional association is divided into four districts, which correspond to the official state election districts. Each of the four districts is represented in the state board by a deputy state chairman and four assessors who, together with the state chairman, the treasurer, the secretary and the press officer, form the state board.
history
In order to counteract the bureaucratisation which it believes is emanating from the state and the increasingly poor financial resources of the municipalities, the FWG changed its statutes in the 1980s. As a “membership-organized voter group”, it accepted individual members and was thus able to take part in state elections. In 1987 , the FWG first started and achieved 1.5%. With demands for a strengthening of local self-government, in particular the principle of connectivity and more direct democracy, the FWG achieved 2.5% in 2001 . In the 2006 state elections , 1.6% were achieved.
On May 8, 2010, the FWG Rhineland-Palatinate was converted back into a pure umbrella organization of voter groups. For future participation in state elections and other higher-level elections, a state association of the Federal Association of Free Voters was founded out of the association . According to the statutes, this is supported by the FWG.
