The Freiheitshalle in Hof is the largest multifunctional event hall in eastern Northern Bavaria . It is divided into three areas: large house, ballroom and conference area.

The Freiheitshalle is operated by the city of Hof and is assigned to the culture department within the administration.

The Freiheitshalle is in the Neuhof district , Ernst-Reuter-Strasse / Kulmbacher Strasse. The Volksfestplatz, an open space that is used as a fairground and exhibition center, borders the Freiheitshalle. The privately run Hotel Central is located directly next to the hall, opposite the Hof Theater and near the Hof-Neuhof train station , a stop on the Hof – Bad Steben railway line .

The Great House of the Second Freedom Hall was a regular venue for major TV productions such as the Folk Music Festival with Florian Silbereisen , Welcome to Carmen Nebel , One will win with Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff and also great pop and rock concerts such as u. a. the appearance of Status Quo . Bet that..? was moderated for the first time on September 26, 1987 by Thomas Gottschalk in Hofer Freiheitshalle. During the Hofer Volksfest the big house served as a "festival tent". It offered space for up to 4500 visitors (without seats), with row seating 2500–2800 seats. The new large house offers space for up to 6100 visitors in the unseated version and around 3400 seats with row seating. The total open space is 2429 m 2 , in the reduced version 1824 m 2 .

The ballroom offers around 800 seats and is used for festive events, congresses and meetings as well as for concerts and cultural events. It was redesigned in 1994 after a general renovation. As part of the general renovation from 2009 to 2012, it was adapted to today's technical requirements, but its shape was retained. It is the concert hall of the Hof Symphony Orchestra .

The conference area consists of the sky lobby and three conference rooms with space for up to 300 people in the largest room (with row seating).

The Great House of the Freedom Hall 1974–2009

The first festival hall on the Hofer Volksfestplatz was inaugurated in 1935. In accordance with the balance of power in Germany at the time, it was given the name Adolf Hitler Hall . After the Second World War , the hall was renamed in memory of the liberation from the National Socialist dictatorship .

After the building was in disrepair, the second Hofer Freiheitshalle was completed in 1974 after three years of construction. The big house was originally designed as a sports hall. By 1999 around seven million spectators had attended the around 6000 events in the Freiheitshalle.

From May 2009 to September 2012 the hall was closed due to a general renovation including a partially new building. The reopening took place during the Upper Franconian exhibition on September 29, 2012.

During the Night of Light on June 22, 2020, the Freedom Hall also shone in red light.

KUNSTpassageHOF

The KUNSTpassageHOF is an art gallery between the east side of the Freiheitshalle and the Hotel Central. In the gallery there are exhibitions of various, including international, artists with exhibition openings. The exhibitions change regularly.
