The house Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße 20, Gellertstraße 23 is a listed residential building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located in the Stadtfeld Ost district of Magdeburg in an acute-angled corner at the confluence of Gellertstrasse and Freiherr-vom-Stein-Strasse.

Architecture and history

The three-storey house was built in 1914 by master mason and carpenter Paul Semmler, who was also the owner of the building. The plastered house is rounded towards the corner in what is known in Magdeburg as a flat bolt -like shape. The entrances to the house are on both Freiherr-vom-Stein-Strasse and Gellertstrasse. On each of the two sides there are two three- story box oriels with balconies . Above the bay windows, there are two-axis roof bay windows, which are crowned by triangular gables. The facades are structured with flat pilaster strips . There are flat pilasters on the bay windows . The stucco on the facades is designed in the neoclassic style with an egg stick and volute capitals.

The top floor is expanded with apartments. The house is covered by a mansard roof , which is provided with several roof houses.

Due to its location in the ensemble of surrounding buildings and the striking corner location, the building is a defining feature of the street.

In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 82238 . Presumably by mistake, the house is also listed at Gellertstraße 23 with registration number 094 77070.
