Frequency is an American television series , which is loosely based on the 2000 film of the same name by Toby Emmerich . The series was first broadcast on October 5, 2016 on The CW . The German-language first broadcast has been on the Sat.1 Emotions channel since January 2, 2018 .
action
The New York police officer Raimy Sullivan made the astonishing discovery in 2016 that after a storm she was able to use an old radio to communicate with her father, who died years ago, and who was also a police officer who lost his life on duty, after a storm is located. Through her knowledge of his fate in her time career, she manages to prevent his renewed death while on duty, but this leads to the so-called “ butterfly effect ”, which has consequences for her present life. In order to repair the "damage" that has arisen, father and daughter have to go beyond the times to solve a murder case that has been going on for many years.
production
A pilot episode of the series was originally ordered by NBC in autumn 2014 for the 2015/2016 TV season, although the series was neither ordered nor a pilot episode was produced. In the following year, the broadcaster The CW finally took over the series, initially ordering a pilot episode in January 2016, after which a complete first season was ordered in May 2016. Since the series was discontinued after only a 13-episode season due to inadequate audience ratings, the production studio produced a short epilogue to the series, which brings together all open ends at the season finale and thus creates a satisfactory ending. This epilogue was published online.
reception
The pilot episode was rated four out of five stars by the industry portal Serienjunkies.de , with the rapidly developing plot and Peyton List in the lead role being praised. "Of course, you have to make small concessions as far as the time travel logic is concerned," it says there.
