Pierre-André Marchand

Pierre-André Marchand (* 1943 in Sonvilier ) is a Swiss journalist , writer , singer and songwriter from the canton of Jura .

biography

Marchand completed the teachers' seminar in Porrentruy and then taught in La Ferrière , Bogotá , Montreal , Courcelon and Delémont . In 1971 he founded the monthly satirical newspaper La Tuile ("the brick"). In addition, he worked with various media, including the newspapers and magazines Jura libre , Arc Hebdo , La Liberté , Optique jurassienne and La Brique , the radio stations Radio fréquence Jura , Radio Suisse Romande , France Culture and Radio Canada and the television station RTS . Marchand, who lives in Soulce , wrote over 300 chansons . He campaigned vigorously in public for the creation of the Canton of Jura and the separation from the Canton of Bern . However, this did not prevent him from condemning the controversial actions of some separatists after the canton was founded.

Marchand is the main character in the 1993 documentary Chronique des hautes plateaux by Christophe de Ponfilly .
