geography
Soulce lies at 605 m above sea level. M. , nine kilometers southwest of the canton capital Delémont (linear distance ). The former street line village extends mainly on the northern side of the Soulce brook in a valley south of the Delsberg basin .
The area of the 14.7 km² municipal area comprises the upper part of the Soulce valley, which lies in the syncline between two Jura chains. In the north the valley is accompanied by the ridge of Le Mont (up to 1080 m above sea level ), in the south by the chain of the Montagne de Moutier . On the latter is 1165 m above sea level. M. reached the highest point of the municipality. The densely forested northern slope of the Montagne de Moutier is subdivided by several erosion valleys in Les Poirchets , Sur le Plain and Envers de Folpotat . The brook Soulce drains the municipality to the west to the Sorne . In 1997, 2% of the municipal area was accounted for by settlements, 70% for forests and woodlands and 28% for agriculture.
Several individual farms belong to Soulce. The neighboring communities of Soulce are Undervelier , Courfaivre , Courtételle and Châtillon in the canton of Jura and Moutier , Perrefitte and Souboz in the canton of Bern .

Soulce is located away from the major traffic routes in a Jura Long Valley that is closed on three sides. The main access road is that from Undervelier , a narrow forest road runs over the Jura chain to the north directly to Courfaivre . The village is connected to public transport by a bus that runs from Bassecourt via Undervelier to Soulce.
history
The village was first mentioned in 1148 as Sulza in a document from Pope Eugene III. who gives the Moutier-Grandval Monastery the right to tithe in Soulce . In 1486 the place came to the duchy of Basel . Soulce and Undervelier formed one parish until 1745, after which Soulce became independent and, since 1802, also formed an independent parish. From 1793 to 1815 the place belonged to France and was initially part of the Département du Mont-Terrible , from 1800 connected with the Département Haut-Rhin . Through the decision of the Congress of Vienna , Soulce came to the canton of Bern in 1815 and to the newly founded canton of Jura on January 1, 1979.
Attractions
