Haute-Sorne is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Jura that was created on January 1, 2013 . The municipality of Haute-Sorne is in Bassecourt .
It was formed through the merger of the previously independent communities of Bassecourt, Courfaivre , Glovelier , Soulce and Undervelier . In the vote on February 5, 2012, the voters of the named five out of a total of seven municipalities polled spoke in favor of the merger; Boécourt and Saulcy refused to merge .
The name Haute-Sorne is derived from the Sorne river , which flows through the region, and follows the example of the municipality of Basse-Allaine , which was founded on January 1st, 2009 . Haute-Sorne was already well established as a name; A football club from the region, the joint secondary school, the fire brigade and the local Raiffeisen bank use this place name.
