The Circle of Friends by Heinrich Roos was a sentiment Community in Wiesbaden , which is against the National Socialist regime taught.

background

The circle of friends around Heinrich Roos , named after its founding member, consisted of a little more than 30 members, the only thing they had in common was their rejection of National Socialist rule. Politically, the spectrum of the members ranged from the center to the SPD . However, it was mainly composed of supporters of the DDP and the DStP. Roos himself was a former DDP member and worked at the Wiesbaden tax office. He was dismissed by the National Socialists in 1933, but successfully sued and was reinstated in 1934. From then on he headed a circle of friends that he himself understood as a "chain".

The group collected suppressed news and money and donations in kind to support those persecuted by the Nazi regime, especially Jewish citizens. Friendly relations existed in particular with resistance groups of the Christian trade unions. There were also connections to Wilhelm Leuschner's trust network. The group survived the Third Reich because they acted largely inconspicuously and had no political ambitions. Members of the group then got involved in reconstruction, including in the Wiesbaden reconstruction committee , then mainly in the CDU .
