Heinrich Roos (born December 21, 1906 in Wiesbaden ; † October 30, 1988 ibid) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism and a politician ( CDU and DDP ).

Life

Heinrich Roos joined the DDP, the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold and the Republican Student Union in the 1920s . He initially studied at the University of Frankfurt am Main , but was expelled from the university due to his political activities. He got a job at the tax office in Wiesbaden, where he was dismissed after the seizure of power. he successfully sued this dismissal and was reinstated in mid-1934. He now began to work in the resistance and founded the circle of friends around Heinrich Roos , which collected news and above all supported those persecuted of the Jewish faith with donations in money and in kind. Roos managed to act largely undetected, although some of his associates were arrested.

After the end of the Second World War , which Roos spent in Wiesbaden as “not able to be used in the war”, he tried to help with the reconstruction. He first founded the Wiesbaden Development Committee , which helped build the Wiesbaden city administration. Roos was then a founding member of the Christian Democratic Party (CDP), the predecessor organization of the CDU. As a CDU member, he was a city councilor from May 1, 1945 to August 12, 1946. He then became city ​​treasurer . He retired on July 9, 1954.

Roos was expelled from the CDU in 1958 because he had signed an appeal by the “ Fight against Nuclear Death ” committee .

Roos died in Wiesbaden in 1988.
