Friar's Court

Friar's Court is a residential building in the Scottish town of Crail in the Council Area Fife . In 1972 the building was included as an individual monument in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

The residential building is on Marketgate Street not far from Crail's Tolbooth in the center of the village. Right next to it is the Kirkmay House Hotel . Friar's Court was built in 1686 but has been redesigned since then. In 1938 the residential building was renovated.

The year of construction 1686 is recorded in the lintel above the house entrance on the south-facing main facade. The masonry of the three-story residential building is made of quarry stone . Openings are bordered with natural stone. The main facade is four axes wide. The stairwell emerges from the rear facade. The gables of the final gable roof are designed with simple stepped gables . The three chimneys were later revised and reduced in height.
