Frida Melvær (born September 29, 1971 ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative Høyre party . She has been a member of the Storting since 2017 .

Life

Melvær is a trained teacher and has taught at schools in Førde and Askvoll . In 2007 she entered the local parliament of Askvoll for the first time, where she became deputy mayor. Between 2011 and 2017 she was the mayor of the municipality. From 2011 to 2015 she was also a member of the Fylkesting of the then Sogn og Fjordane province .

In the general election in September 2017 Melvær moved for the constituency of Sogn og Fjordane in the Norwegian National Parliament Storting , where she was a member of the Judiciary Committee. She also became part of the Høyre Group Bureau in Parliament. In spring 2020 she announced that she did not want to run again for a seat in parliament in the 2021 election . As a reason, Melvær stated that she would like to return to her job as a teacher.
