Sogn og Fjordane (German Sogn and Fjordane ) was a province ( Fylke ) in Norway , which bordered on the provinces of Møre og Romsdal , Oppland , Buskerud and Hordaland .

On January 1, 2019, the population was 109,774 people (2.12% of the total population of Norway). The area was 18,619 km². The administrative headquarters were in Hermansverk ( Leikanger municipality ).

Before the reform of 1919, the province of Nordre was called Bergenhus amt (North Bergenhus, after Bergenhus Fortress ).

On January 1, 2020, Sogn og Fjordane (excluding Hornindal municipality ) merged with Hordaland to form the new Fylke Vestland . The basis for the merger was a resolution of the Storting on June 8, 2017, which provided for a reduction to eleven areas as part of a regional reform .
