Grodås
Grodås is a place in the Norwegian municipality of Volda in Fylke Møre og Romsdal . Until January 1, 2020, it was the center of the municipality of Hornindal in the province of Sogn og Fjordane , which then merged with Volda. Grodås is run as Tettsted .
The place has 483 inhabitants and covers an area of 0.6 km² (as of 2016). The population has increased recently. In 2000 it was 294 and by 2011 it had grown to 389 people.
Grodås is on the east bank of Hornindalsvatnet , the deepest lake in Europe . The river Kvitla flows into the lake here . The European route 39 runs through the village , north of Grodås, Fylkesvei 60 branches off in a north-easterly direction to Hellesylt . In 1993 the Steinstolpen på Grodås memorial was erected in the village , commemorating the construction of the first telephone lines in 1893.
On the northern edge of the village is the church of Hornindal , in the southern part is the Anders-Svor-Museum , in which 450 works by the sculptor Anders Svor (1864-1929) are exhibited.
In Grodås there are companies in the wood and furniture industry, such as a factory of furniture manufacturer Ekornes . Tourism also plays a role. There are retail and accommodation businesses in the village.
