Hermansverk
Hermansverk is a small Norwegian town in the municipality of Sogndal with around 2,000 inhabitants. Since Hermansverk has grown together with the place Leikanger , the associated Tettsted is called Hermansverk / Leikanger. The town is the seat of Fylkesmanns of Fylke Vestland and administrative center of the municipality Sogndal. Until the end of 2019 Hermansverk fulfilled these functions for the then Fylke Sogn og Fjordane and the former municipality of Leikanger.
Surname
The place was named after Herman Brun, who was elected mayor on January 1, 1844. At that time the place was called Njøsasanden.
economy
The city is the headquarters of Norway Fjord Cruise , which operates throughout Western Norway and organizes boat trips. Hermansverk is the main place for the fruit trade of the local fruit farming. There is also the state research station for fruit seeds Njøs .
