Gaupne is a Tettsted and the administrative center of the Norwegian municipality Luster in the province of Vestland .
Gaupne has 1,188 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012) and is located on the west bank of the Lusterfjord , a northern branch of the Sognefjord , not far from the Nigardsbreen , a subsidiary glacier of the Jostedalsbreen . Gaupne is located on Sognefjellsveien on state road 55 to Lom . Places nearby are Hafslo , Marifjøra , Sogndal , Luster and Skjolden . On the other side of the fjord is the Urnes stave church .
