Frieda Haller

Frieda Haller (born Frieda Völker ; * July 5, 1888 in Lübz ; † March 9, 1972 in Schwerin ) was a German domestic worker and politician ( SPD / SED ). It belonged to the state parliament of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Schwerin from 1926 to 1932 .

Life

Frieda Haller was born as the younger daughter of master shoemaker Johannes Völker (* 1852) in Lübz. She attended elementary school and from 1903 worked as a maid and tiller in Mecklenburg and Berlin. In 1913 she married the carpenter Wilhelm Haller (1888–1964), who after the First World War was the managing director of the party newspaper in Schwerin, from 1945 mayor of Damm and from 1946 to 1952 an employee in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Mecklenburg state government. After her marriage, Frieda Haller was a housewife. In addition, she volunteered in party committees and was a board member and caretaker of the workers' welfare in Schwerin. In addition, from 1929 she was a member of the board of directors of the Workers' Abstinentenbund in Schwerin. In June 1926 she became a member of the state parliament of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, again in 1927 and 1929. After the forced unification of the SPD and KPD in 1946 , she was a party functionary of the SED and from 1946 to 1949 head of women's work.
