Frieda Nickel

Frieda Nickel (born August 1, 1889 in Schlotheim ; † December 29, 1970 ) was a social democratic politician.

Live and act

Nickel was a housewife. She was a city councilor in Bochum from 1926 to 1933 . In 1919 she was one of the co-founders of the workers' welfare in the city. Nickel was chairman until 1933.

After the end of National Socialist rule , Nickel was involved in rebuilding the workers' welfare. She was chairman and managing director until 1967.

In 1946 she was a member of the Westphalia Provincial Council . In addition, she was a member of the appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1946 and 1947 . In addition, Nickel was an advisory member of the social committees of the city of Bochum. In these functions, she played a key role in setting up recreational trips, kindergartens and youth homes. In Langendreer she was involved in setting up an old people's home, where she spent her old age.

In 1966, Nickel received the Bochum ring of honor. A senior citizen center in Bochum is named after her.
