Frieder Zaminer

Frieder Zaminer (born October 31, 1927 in Kronstadt ; † August 1, 2017 in Berlin ) was a German music historian .

He received his doctorate in 1958 with the dissertation Der Vatican Organum Trakat (Ottob. Lat. 3025): Investigations on Organum Practice of the 12th and Beginning of the 13th Century in Heidelberg and was head of the historical department of the State Institute for Music Research from 1968 to 1991 Berlin (West) .

Zaminer is also known as the author of numerous music-historical treatises, as the editor of the publications of the State Institute for Music Research - Prussian Cultural Heritage and as the editor of the music department in the encyclopedia Der neue Pauly .
