Friederike Pannewick

Friederike Pannewick (born November 17, 1966 in Erlangen ) is a German Arabist .

Life

Pannewick studied Oriental , Arabic and Turkish studies at the universities of Bamberg , the Sorbonne , the Institut national des langues et civilizations orientales , Paris and the Damascus Theater Academy . In 1993 she finished her studies with a master's degree in Arabic and Turkish studies at the Free University of Berlin . In 2000 she also received her doctorate in Berlin and subsequently worked on various projects. Between 2005 and 2007 she was Associate Professor at the University of Oslo .

In 2007 Pannewick was offered a professorship at the Philipps University of Marburg , where she has been active ever since. On November 28, 2008, she gave her inaugural lecture there. In August 2010, she turned down an offer at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin . Pannewick was awarded a Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize for 2012.
