Rodaun Cemetery
The Rodaun cemetery is a cemetery in the 23rd district of Liesing in Vienna .
location and size
The cemetery is located in the Rodaun district north of the border with the Lower Austrian municipality of Perchtoldsdorf . It extends over an area of 12029 m 2 and has 1453 grave sites.
history
Originally there was probably a cemetery at the Rodaun mountain church . A new cemetery was created in 1783, which had to be moved to its current location in 1799. The first of several extensions took place in 1878, the last in 1963. The current funeral hall was built between 1962 and 1964.
The Russian military cemetery on the site of the Rodaun cemetery was occupied by members of the Red Army in group and individual graves between 1945 and 1947.
