Friedrich-Engels-Allee 140 (2009)

The two-storey house with the external dimensions of approximately 10.8 × 13 meters was built in half-timbered construction. Between 1850 and 1861 the residential building Friedrich-Engels-Allee 142 was added directly to the east facade . The five-axis front facing the street, the north side of the building, was slated like the west facade. The first floor on the front had a central entrance to which a five-step flight of stairs led. The foreship roof had a gable in the classical style on the front side, and a dormer on the rear side of the roof . The windows had shutters.

history

The house built in the first decades of the 19th century, which was designed in a similar architectural style as the Gonnermann house or the Engels house , was part of the first historical development on Friedrich-Engels-Allee. The building was recognized as a monument and entered into the list of monuments on September 6, 1984.

After several changes of ownership, the house was no longer inhabited for several years. In the mid-1980s, people were still confident that they could find a new owner who would responsibly renovate the two houses. The current owner of the house, who also owns the residential building at Friedrich-Engels-Allee 142, was asked several times by the office in the 2000s to renovate the monument.

The building showed a number of damage in the load-bearing and non-load-bearing construction of the shell. The wood of the compartment itself was infested with wood-destroying fungi and insects. According to an appraisal in September 2007, a carpentry renovation that had been started in the area of the partitions, wooden construction and cladding was not carried out properly in parts and could not be used for any renovation work in question. Some parts of the building were no longer available and insufficient security measures accelerated the building's deterioration. According to the appraisal, renovation would exceed a sum of 600,000 euros and would basically represent a new building, as more than 90 percent of the building is not worth preserving.

At the end of May 2011, the building was demolished down to the ground floor. It was completely put down in the second quarter of 2013.
