Friedrich-Engels-Allee 142

The residential building at Friedrich-Engels-Allee 142, which was demolished in 2013, was a listed residential building on the Wuppertal Friedrich-Engels-Allee in Unterbarmen .

description

The three-storey house with the external dimensions of approximately 10.9 × 6 meters was built in half-timbered construction. The house was built directly on the east facade of the residential building Friedrich-Engels-Allee 140 and on the west facade of the residential building Friedrich-Engels-Allee 146 .

The north side of the building, the front side facing the street, was designed with three axes. The facade of the narrow house was slated. The entrance door was in the left axis, to which a five-step flight of stairs led.

A dormer window was placed on the north side of the expanded hipped roof with the hips facing west .

history

The building was erected between 1850 and 1861 between the existing residential houses built in the first decades of the 19th century, so the house is part of the first historical development on Friedrich-Engels-Allee. The building was recognized as a monument and entered into the list of monuments on November 12, 1992.

After several changes of ownership in the mid-1980s, people were still confident that they could find a new owner who would responsibly renovate this house and the neighboring house to the west. The current owner of the house, who also owns the residential building at Friedrich-Engels-Allee 140, was asked several times by the office in the 2000s to take responsibility and to renovate the monument.

Due to the very poor condition of the house at Friedrich-Engels-Allee 140, the house at Friedrich-Engels-Allee 142 was affected. While the rescue of the house at Friedrich-Engels-Allee 140 no longer seemed sensible and it was decided to demolish it in 2009, it was hoped that the house at Friedrich-Engels-Allee 142 could be saved.

The house and the neighboring residential building were completely closed in the second quarter of 2013.
