Friedrich Wilhelm Koch

Friedrich-Wilhelm Koch (born August 10, 1913 , † August 26, 1995 ) was a German surgeon and medical professional .

Career

Coming from a family of doctors in Bochum, Koch studied medicine at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . In 1933 he was accepted into the Corps Nassovia Würzburg . After completing his studies, he worked at clinics in Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Switzerland and Austria from 1936 to 1956. From 1956 to 1984 he practiced as a resident surgeon in Essen . From 1969 to 1981 Koch was President of the North Rhine Medical Association . During the time of his presidency, the independent expert commission for the assessment of medical malpractice was set up. On his initiative, the Academy for Medical Training of the North Rhine Medical Association was founded in 1979. With the campaign he founded “More humanity in hospitals and practices”, Koch has endeavored to achieve greater commitment and more human attention in everyday medical practice and in health care. He was 82 years old.
