Friedrich (Troppau)

Friedrich von Troppau (Czech Bedřich Opavský ; * around 1440 , † around 1470 ) was Duke of Troppau from 1452 to 1456 . He came from the Troppau branch of the Bohemian Přemyslids .

Life

His parents were Duke Wilhelm von Troppau and Salome († 1489), a daughter of the Bohemian nobleman Puta von Častolowitz .

After the father's death in 1452, his younger brother Ernst took over the guardianship of Friedrich and his four siblings. Together with his brothers Wenceslaus III. and Přemysl / Primislaus III. Friedrich had inherited two thirds of the Duchy of Opava. The right of inheritance to the Duchy of Münsterberg was denied to them, because their father had contractually transferred this to his brother Ernst in 1451 and he had given him his third to Troppau in return. After 1454, Ernst, as guardian of Friedrich and his brothers, sold their two-thirds stake in Troppau to Duke Bolko V of Opole , while their cousin Johann II von Leobschütz took the last third until 1464 could hold.

Little is known about Friedrich's existence. His mother had only insufficient income, it left in 1460 the Oelser Duke Konrad X. Steinau to usufruct . It is not known whether Friedrich, like his brother Wenzel, also lived in Steinau. He died around the age of 30, was not married and left no offspring.
