Friedrich August Fiedler († January 2, 1756 in Magdeburg ) was a German surveyor and architect .

Life

Friedrich August Fiedler, initially a non-commissioned officer, was appointed to the Duchy of Magdeburg as a chamber land knife in 1721 after having passed his examination under personal royal approval .

He became known through the atlas Cameræ Magdeburgensis compiled by him in 1722 , in which floor plans of offices of the Duchy of Magdeburg were shown. Five of the 73 maps in the atlas were drawn by Fiedler himself. In addition, the table of contents, the scale index, the scale bars and the labels on the back of the card come from him.

In the same year Fiedler mapped the Wienröder forest in the area between Cattenstedt , Thale and Altenbrak for the principality of Blankenburg and in 1723/1724 he measured the boundaries of the Magdeburg office of Oebisfelde .

On March 20, 1726, Fiedler was appointed to succeed the master builder Carl Nuglisch as master builder in the Duchy of Magdeburg. The village church of Niegripp , built by him in 1732, and Angern Castle, built by him in 1736, have been preserved . Furthermore, he was involved in the construction of the church in Drackenstedt from 1749 to 1750 and in 1751 in the renovation of the Sandbeiendorf church tower .

On December 30, 1755, Fiedler retired due to illness and age, and the conductor Johann Gottfried Meinicke was appointed as his successor.
