Drackenstedt is a district of the municipality Eilsleben in the district of Börde in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).
geography
Drackenstedt is located in the north of the Magdeburg Börde in the source area of the Olbe , a small river whose water reaches the Elbe via the Beber and Ohre . The Aller Quellen are also only a few kilometers away from the district. To the northwest of Drackenstedt, the Wartsberg reaches 179 m above sea level. NN . Seehausen is approx. 8 km, the state capital Magdeburg approx. 15 km from Drackenstedt.

history
Drackenstedt is mentioned for the first time in an Ottonen document from October 22, 973 as Drikkestedi . Until 1984/1985 the place had a post mill with the Michaelis mill , which was then moved to Hohenwarthe .
On September 1, 2010 Drackenstedt was incorporated into Eilsleben.

The coat of arms was approved on October 21, 1996 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.
Blazon : "In silver, a fallen left-facing red dragon, armed in gold."
The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg heraldist Erika Fiedler .
The place name is supposed to be symbolized as a "talking element" by the dragon (as a protector from disaster).
Culture and sights
- Memorial complex for 58 unknown concentration camp prisoners of different nationalities, the case of a death march in April 1945 from the concentration camp Stempeda of Mittelbau-Dora on the resin driven and SS men were killed in a barn of the village.
- The Protestant Sankt-Cosmas-und-Damian-Kirche (today St. Nicolai ) in Drackenstedt with a Romanesque church tower was built in the first half of the 13th century, the nave dates from around 1750.
Transport links
The Bornstedt motorway junction ( A 2 ) is only approx. 4 km from the community. The federal highways 1 , 245 and 246a also pass near Drackenstedt. Dreileben-Drackenstedt station is on the Braunschweig – Magdeburg railway line . The place is on Landesstraße 24, which leads from Oschersleben via Haldensleben and Calvörde to Oebisfelde .
Personalities
In 1882, the theologian and author Albert Hosenthien , who later became close to National Socialism, was born in Drackenstedt .
From 1881 to 1902 the German theologian Karl Knaake and founder of the Weimar Luther edition held the parish of Drackenstedt and lived in the parsonage. Several volumes of the edition were created here.
