Friedrich August von Mensch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich August von Mensch (born January 24, 1798 in Dresden ; † February 24, 1881 ) was a Grand Ducal Saxon secret councilor , royal Saxon consul general of the Argentine Republic and the Republic of Uruguay for the Kingdom of Saxony and a knight of the Royal Greek Order of Savior .

Life

Friedrich August von Mensch came from the Saxon residence city of Dresden and was named after the reigning King Friedrich August of Saxony.

He lived in Dresden and wrote several pamphlets, mainly in French, during his official commercial activities as a councilor and general consul. In 1857 he tried to introduce a procedure to lift and stimulate overseas business connections.

Mensch was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dresden, to which he bequeathed 1500 Reichsmarks in his will when he died in 1881. This was linked to the condition that the annual interest income from this legacy would be paid to the most worthy and neediest pupil upon their departure from the teaching and educational institution for boys in Dresden-Friedrichstadt.
