Friedrich Besch

Friedrich Besch (born December 21, 1934 in Danzig ) is a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduation Besch began studying the law, which he in 1965 with the graduation to the Dr. jur. finished. He then entered the administrative service, initially being the personal assistant to the North Rhine-Westphalian Science and Research Minister Johannes Rau, and in this role played a key role in drafting university legislation. As a ministerial official, he took over the management of the research funding department in the Ministry of Culture. He is married and has three sons.

Public offices

From 1986 to 1995 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and from 1995 to 1998 he was State Secretary in the Ministry for Schools and Further Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (Minister: Hans Schwier ). Alongside Franz Niehl , he was one of the main initiators of the spelling reform of 1996. Long-term volunteer work in the Evangelical Church of Westphalia as synodal and chairman of the permanent church order committee (until 2009).
