Friedrich Bräuninger (librarian)

Friedrich Bräuninger (full name Friedrich Carl Albert Bräuninger , born June 18, 1901 in Berlin , † April 28, 1945 near Potsdam ) was a German librarian and classical philologist .

Bräuninger studied Classical Philology , German and Oriental Studies at the University of Berlin , where he passed the state examination for higher education on March 1, 1926 and was awarded a Dr. phil. received his doctorate . From April 1, 1926, he worked for two years as an assistant at the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae in Munich. He then returned to the University of Berlin and worked for a few months as an assistant at the Institute for Classical Studies (May 1 to September 30, 28).

After these years, Bräuninger decided to pursue a career in library. On October 1, 1928, he joined the university library in Berlin as a volunteer ; After a year he moved to the State Library in Berlin , where he passed the librarianship examination on September 23, 1930, and worked again at the university library on October 8, 1930. On May 1, 1934, he was appointed regular librarian, on October 1, 1936, he was appointed librarian and department head of the German Army Library , and on April 20, 1939, he was appointed library councilor. From 1942 to 1945 he was director of the army library.

Towards the end of the Second World War , Bräuninger was killed in the fighting near Potsdam in April 1945.
