Friedrich Brakemeier

Friedrich Brakemeier (born June 13, 1943 in Lemgo ) is a German local politician ( SPD ) and was Mayor of Detmold from 1989 to 2004 .

Life

Friedrich Brakemeier was born on June 13, 1943 in Lemgo and grew up in Humfeld . His father was the mayor of the municipality and a member of the Lemgo district council. The interest in local politics rubbed off on Friedrich Brakemeier and he joined the SPD in 1964 after graduating from Engelbert-Kaempfer-Gymnasium . He studied law in Göttingen and Hamburg and graduated in 1971 with the first state examination. In the same year he married his wife and moved with her to Detmold. He passed the second state examination in 1974 in Düsseldorf. Brakemeier then worked as a judge at the Blomberg District Court until 1995 .

From October 19, 1989 to May 31, 1995, Friedrich Brakemeier was honorary mayor of Detmold, then full-time mayor until the local elections in 2004. His successor was his party comrade Rainer Heller .

From 2004 to 2016 Brakemeier was chairman of the Lippischen Heimatbund .
