Friedrich Christian Diederich Gaede (* 1803 in Kiel , † 1862 in London ) was a German - English portrait painter .

Life

Gaede left his hometown Kiel in 1824 to continue his education in Paris . He was portrayed there between November 1825 and August 1826 by Carl Glinzer , who at the time was a student of Antoine-Jean Gros , along with other German artists, including Ludwig Krevel and Eduard Gaertner . In 1831 Gaede moved to London and from 1835 was based in Oxford .
