Friedrich Forssman

Friedrich Forssman (born March 8, 1965 in Nuremberg ) is a German book designer , typographer , commercial artist and specialist author.

Life

Friedrich Forssman, son of the Indo-European Bernhard Forssman , grew up in Switzerland and Germany. He left high school in Marburg early to become a book designer. After his typesetter apprenticeship in Bamberg, he went to the technical college for design in Darmstadt and graduated in 1985 with the technical diploma. He first studied graphic design at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and then switched to Hans Peter Willberg at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences .

For redesigning the Gutenberg yearbook , Friedrich Forssman received the Gutenberg grant from the city of Mainz in 1990. Due to his student thesis on the possibility of typesetting for the typographically complex late work of Arno Schmidt , he received a position at the Arno Schmidt Foundation , for which he created a set version of Zettel's dream over many years . In 2008 he received a practical scholarship at the Villa Massimo in Rome. In October 2010, appeared in the publishing house Suhrkamp the Bargfelder output . Work group IV, volume 1. Standard edition. The "Reclam Library" series, launched in 2008, presents classics from world literature with special features. The series was designed by Friedrich Forssman and Cornelia Feyll and was awarded 2nd prize in the book art competition “The Most Beautiful Books 2008”.

Forssman is married to the textile designer Cornelia Feyll and lives in Kassel.
