Friedrich Gottlob Born
Friedrich Gottlob Born (* 1743 in Leipzig ; † December 8, 1807 ) was a German philosopher and follower of Immanuel Kant .
He received his doctorate in 1783 at the University of Leipzig and held an extraordinary professorship there from 1785. From 1802 he was a clergyman at Weesenstein Castle .
Through his translation of Kant's critical writings into Latin , published in four volumes under the title Opera ad philosophiam criticam from 1796 to 1798 , he contributed to their dissemination abroad. Prior to that, from 1789 to 1791, together with Johann Heinrich Abicht, he published the journal Neues philosophisches Magazin and wrote some philosophical writings:
- De scientia et coniectura specimen metaphysicum (1787)
- Attempt on the first reasons for the doctrine of the senses (1788)
- Attempt on the original foundations of human thought and the boundaries of our knowledge that depend on it (1791)
- Immanuelis Kantii Opera ad philosophiam criticam, translated from German into Latin (Leipzig: EB Schwickert, 1796–98), four volumes:

He also published a complete German-Latin dictionary (Leipzig 1790).
