Ellen Klinghammer

Ellen Klinghammer (born October 23, 1979 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German composer and lyricist. Klinghammer interprets her songs as a singer and pianist herself.

biography

At the age of six, Ellen Klinghammer had her first private piano lessons and three years later she was enrolled at the music school in Idstein, where she received classical piano lessons from various teachers. At 15, she decided to stop teaching for the time being, as she preferred to improvise freely and start writing her own pieces. She appeared for the first time in 1992 with an instrumental piece, followed by her first real public appearance in 1998 with her own compositions.

After graduating from high school in 2000, she completed two years of commercial training as a foreign language correspondent, before Klinghammer decided to make music professionally and, from 2002, to play concerts with his own compositions on a regular basis. In addition to solo appearances, she was also seen in a trio with Christopher Herrmann ( cello ) and Martin Standke ( drums ). In response to audience inquiries, she put together a CD with seven songs (partly studio, partly live recordings) - initially self-made, later professionally produced - which she called "demo" according to the nature of the coupling and which she released on her own label "Holly Records" published and since then distributes itself.

Titles like "Water & Cigarettes" and "Duffer" appeared on different compilations . After a much acclaimed trio concert in Frankfurt nightlife at the end of November 2003, the young musician had many opportunities to perform, including a. in the Frankfurter Hof in Mainz, the Kfz in Marburg and the Colos-Saal in Aschaffenburg. There was a euphoric criticism after their Jazzkeller concert in April 2004 in the FAZ . Radio interviews with Volker Rebell (hr3), television appearances on "Newcomer TV" on HR television and on Sat 1 , together with concerts at the Museumsuferfest in Frankfurt, participation in competitions (final round at the MMA Mannheim Music Award and 2nd place in the jury and audience award at " Neukommer ”in the Centralstation in Darmstadt) and festival appearances to leave the insider tip status behind.

In 2005 Ellen Klinghammer began recording her first studio album, "Holly's Songs", which she had to interrupt in the summer due to health problems. At the end of the year, the musician finished the studio recordings and finished the mix on Christmas Eve .

In 2006 her album “Holly's Songs” was released, which met with benevolent to euphoric criticism.

Between 2008 and mid-2011 she took an artistic break for health reasons. Her first public appearance after the break took place in August 2011.
