Colos room
The Colos-Saal is a live music club in Aschaffenburg in the pedestrian zone in Roßmarkt 19. Every year around 250 concerts with international artists in different popular genres take place there, from rock, pop, blues, funk, soul, to singer / songwriters , to jazz and world music.
history
In the neighboring building, Roßmarkt 21, was the "Klimperkasten", in which the brothers Claus and Günther Berninger established a restaurant with a regular concert program in 1984. From 1992 the capacity for the audience was insufficient and the move to today's Colos-Saal took place.
Since the 1980s, the Klimperkasten / Colos-Saal crew presented 7000 concerts, cabaret, cabaret and political events.
The building
The Roßmarkt 19 building, which is the home of the Colos-Saal stage, was previously the “Gambrinus” brewery restaurant of the Aschaffenburger Heylandsbrauerei . In the 1930s the hall was u. a. also the venue of the National Socialists . The stair railing in the building had carved swastikas . Traces of it can still be seen today.
Social role
In cooperation with the cultural office of the city of Aschaffenburg, Berninger Musik und Gastronomie GmbH has organized the “Summertime Music” open air festival in the Nilkheimer Park in Aschaffenburg and the “Jazznight” in the courtyard of Johannisburg Palace , Aschaffenburg. At the jazz nights that focused on vocal jazz, among others a. New York Voices , Take 6 , Manhattan Transfer , Cassandra Wilson , Kurt Elling , Malia , Rigmor Gustafson and Till Brönner . Also in cooperation with the cultural office, the series "Grenzgang" is running in the Stadttheater Aschaffenburg . On behalf of the city, the Colos-Saal books artists for the annual Aschaffenburg Culture Days and the Museum Night.
The Colos Hall is the venue for the big bands and other ensembles of the Aschaffenburg Music School and the musically oriented Dalberg Gymnasium.
Together with associations and citizens' initiatives, the Colos Hall organizes several benefit concerts every year.
At political events were a. a. Joschka Fischer , Jürgen Trittin , Gregor Gysi , Kerstin Müller , Daniel Cohn-Bendit , Rezzo Schlauch , Volker Beck , Christine Scheel and Tarek Al-Wazir .
Awards
In 2013, the Colos-Saal received the Live Entertainment Award LEA as “Club of the Year” at the Frankfurt Music Fair .
In 2015 the Colos-Saal received the city of Aschaffenburg's culture award .
