Christine Scheel born Schäfer (born December 31, 1956 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From 1994 to 2012 she was a member of the German Bundestag and from 1998 to 2005 chairwoman of the finance committee in the Bundestag .

Life

Christine Scheel is a freelance business consultant and author of several books.

After graduating from high school in 1977, Christine Scheel studied archeology , ethnology , sociology , pedagogy and psychology in Freiburg im Breisgau and Erlangen , which she completed in 1983 as an MA pedagogue .

Scheel has been a member of the Greens since 1983. From 1983 to 1985 she was chairwoman of the Aschaffenburg Green District Association.

From 1984 to 1990 Scheel was a member of the district assembly of Aschaffenburg and from 1986 to 1994 a member of the Bavarian state assembly. During this period she was group chairman and member of the council of elders for a total of 4 years. In 1994 she became a member of the German Bundestag. From 1994 to 2005 she was the financial policy spokeswoman for the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group. From November 1998 to October 2005 she was also Chair of the Finance Committee . Until 2009 she acted as deputy group leader of her group. In addition, she was the SME representative of the Green parliamentary group until 2012.

Christine Scheel has been chairwoman of the board of trustees of the ev. Academy in Tutzing since 2014. From 2007 to 2016 she was Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Wings of Hope Germany Foundation .

Scheel was a member of the advisory board of the Friends of Ecological Tax Reform and was a member of the New Social Market Economy Initiative until November 2004 .

From 1998-2016 she was an appointed member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Church in Bavaria . From 2003 to 2010 she was a member of the board of directors of KfW Bankengruppe , since 2007 a member of the advisory board of RKW Rationalization and Innovation Center of the German Economy, Mülheim / Ruhr, member of the advisory board of Barmenia Insurance , Wuppertal and from 2004 to 2012 shop steward of the building society savers Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG .

Change to the private sector

Christine Scheel was elected to the board of directors of HEAG Südhessische Energie AG (HSE) for three years on October 12, 2011 on February 1, 2012 , for which she gave up her political career. She resigned her mandate on January 16, 2012; Beate Walter-Rosenheimer moved up from the state list as his successor . On May 23, 2012, the HSE separated from the board members Christine Scheel (Board Member for Sustainability) and Holger Mayer (Board Member for Finance and Energy Trading) prematurely on May 31, 2012. Scheel lives in Rottenberg near Hösbach in the Aschaffenburg district, is married to the former President of the Bavarian Youth Association and today's business and association consultant Gerhard Engel and has two adult children from his first marriage.

honors and awards

Scheel received several awards from medium-sized companies. In 2000 she was the first woman to receive the German Elite SME Award from the Union of Medium-sized Enterprises. V. and in 2004 was appointed “Custodian of medium-sized entrepreneurship”. In 2001 she was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit. In 2009 she received the Bavarian Constitutional Medal in gold.
