Martin Standke (* around 1982 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German jazz musician ( drums ).

Career

Standke studied music teaching at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and at the Cologne University of Music with Michael Küttner , majoring in jazz drums.

Together with Tim Roth , Yuriy Sych and the saxophonist Benjamin Steil, he founded the Contrast Quartet in 2006 , with which he released his debut album in 2009. From this, the Contrast Trio developed , to which Standke belonged until 2018. He is also a member of the Natalya Karmazin trio and quintet . In 2010 he played with Stephan Schmolck at the German Jazz Festival ; He can also be heard on some productions by the Frankfurt Radio Jazz Ensemble . Standke, who lives in Frankfurt am Main, was also active as a theater musician at the theater there.

Prizes and awards

With the Contrast Quartet he received first prize in the Hesse-wide competition Jugend jazzt in 2006 and in 2008 the jazz scholarship of the city of Frankfurt am Main ; He received the working scholarship in 2009 with the Natalya Karmazin International Jazz Quintet and in 2014 with the Electrolyte Quartet . With the Contrast Trio he was awarded the Hessian Jazz Prize in 2016.
