Friedrich Hieronymus

Friedrich Hieronymus (* 1955 ) is a former German enduro athlete .

Life

Hieronymus comes from a family based in Dachsbach in Central Franconia , who had been involved in motorsport for a long time.

Private

His father was also an off-road driver and he himself undertook his first off-road driving activities at a young age. His son Stefan (* 1976) is also a motorcyclist. The family runs the fourth generation of the Gasthaus Zum Brandenburger Adler (formerly Gasthof Hieronymus) in a listed property in the center of the village.

Athletic career and successes

In 1972 Hieronymus made his debut as an ID driver and soon afterwards attracted the attention of the Zündapp company , which signed him as a works driver from 1974. The following year he won the European Championship run in the 50 cm³ class in Brioude, France . In addition, he succeeded in 1974, 1975 and 1977 winning three runners-up in the German championship. He also won five North Bavarian Gaume Championships between 1973 and 1977. After completing the six-day trip in 1977 in Považská Bystrica , Czechoslovakia , Hieronymus ended his career for professional and family reasons. Many years later he was involved in the Hercules team of the Enduro Seniors and was able to achieve the team victory in 2010 in the classic off-road race around the MZ town of Zschopau .
