Friedrich Hoepner

Friedrich Hoepner (born June 4, 1889 in Enger ; † May 12, 1955 in Bielefeld ) was a German commercial director and liberal politician.

Hoepner attended high school. He was in Canada in 1905 and 1906 . He then did a commercial apprenticeship and was an assistant in the iron trade and other industries. From 1914 to 1917 Hoepner was a soldier in the First World War . Between 1917 and 1926 he was an authorized signatory and since 1922 a partner in the Redecker scale factory.

From 1926 he headed the non-profit housing association Ravensberger Heimstätte. In this function he succeeded in reorganizing the society in crisis. With a temporary break during the Nazi era , he remained managing director until 1954.

Since 1919 Hoepner was politically involved in the DDP . He was also a leading member of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold in Bielefeld and on a regional level.

After the beginning of the National Socialist rule he was persecuted for political reasons. He was dismissed. There were house searches and interrogations by the Gestapo . Since 1936 Hoepner had contact with the political resistance .

Immediately after the Second World War , he was one of the re-founders of the DDP in Bielefeld, which was soon renamed the FDP . Hoepner had been chairman of the FDP regional group in the Minden area since November 1947.

In 1946 he became a member of the Provincial Council for Westphalia and in the same year also a member of the appointed Landtag for North Rhine-Westphalia .

Since 1953 his activity was restricted by a serious illness.
