Frederick II (Vianden)

Friedrich II. Von Vianden († 1187 ) was Count von Niedersalm (as Friedrich I) from 1163 to 1175 , and a little later Count von Vianden (1163–1184). He was the younger brother of Count Siegfried I of Vianden .

He married Elisabeth von Salm, daughter of Count Heinrich I von Salm and sister of Count Heinrich II von Obersalm . Friedrich and Elisabeth had at least three children:

  • Hermann
  • Wilhelm I , Count of Niedersalm
  • Katrin (* around 1155) ∞ Wessel von Strünkede
  • Dietrich , Herr von Moers (* around 1160; † after 1191)

The Counts of Salm in the Ardennes descend from Friedrich II. And Elisabeth , who die out with Count Heinrich VII. Of Niedersalm († 1416).
