Friedrich Keil (painter)
Friedrich Keil (born July 2, 1813 in Liebau i. Silesia , † January 17, 1875 in Breslau ) was a German painter.
Friedrich Keil learned the art of goldsmithing from his father in Schweidnitz , and from 1831 studied at the Berlin Academy with Johann Karl Heinrich Kretschmar and Karl Wilhelm Wach . After completing his studies, he worked as a freelance artist in Berlin. At first, Keil painted miniature portraits and also created paper cut silhouettes.
In 1865 he moved to Breslau and took part in exhibitions there. In 1834 and from 1852 to 1868 he exhibited his works at exhibitions at the Berlin Academy. At the great exhibition of the century of German art in Berlin in 1906, three works by Keil were exhibited posthumously.
Friedrich Keil was a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association .
