Friedrich Löffler (process engineer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Löffler (born October 21, 1933 ; † January 6, 1994 ) was a German process engineer and university professor.

Live and act

Löffler completed his dissertation with the title Investigation of the adhesive forces between solid particles and filter fiber surfaces with Hans Rumpf in 1965. His habilitation took place in 1971. In 1973 he received a professorship for mechanical process engineering at the University of Karlsruhe. The focus of Löffler's work was the investigation of multiphase flows .

In 1974 Löffler received the Arnold Eucken Prize from the VDI Society for Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering (GVC) for his research work . The Society for Filter Technology, founded in London in 1964, awarded him the gold medal in 1980 and 1991 for excellent research in the field of filtration and separation technology; Löffler was the first to receive this award for the second time. The Air Cleanliness Commission honored his services as chairman of the planning group of the main committee for exhaust gas cleaning processes, dust technology in 1981 with the VDI medal of honor in gold.

In recognition of his work, the GVC has been awarding the Friedrich Löffler Young Talent Award for special merits in particle research since 2013 .
